A house with a bright yellow shingled facade.

Today we went on one of the most beautiful hikes ever, down the river and through some pretty rough terrain, at least with two kids strapped to our backs. But it was worth every bit of it and the kids loved it.

At the end of the day I passed by this shingle house facade, which reminded me of a time when I helped out doing those myself. It was during my school-time where I got into this kind of “time-out” situation and went working there for a week. As it turned out they were the last shingle-makers in Switzerland who did (and still do) them from scratch! And who knows, maybe those yellow ones here were done by them as well. I fondly remember and loved to work there, even if it was only for a week.
