Reading List #95

Hey

With temperatures well above 10° C this Saturday, we enjoyed what felt like the first spring day in Switzerland, which was very nice. Hope you all had a great weekend as well!

Here’s some articles I found interesting last week.

🔥 New Front-End Features in 2025

This post is packed with “new” front-end features for designers. While I heard about most of them before, I didn’t know they were supported this well in all browsers already – like for example the relative-color syntax.

🤯 Future theming with CSS if() Conditions

Christopher Kirk-Nielsen shows what will be possible when if() conditions will be available in browsers one day. So far only Chrome with a flag supports this, but this can change fast. It sure is amazing what CSS can do these days.

👍 Wrapping the baseline-status Web Component in a WordPress Block

This is pretty cool. Geoff Graham showed his process of wrapping the baseline-status web component into its own WordPress Block.

🫶 Who Can Use

This site simulates how a button will look like for people with different disabilities to test a color combination.

🐟 Fish Eyes & Context

Amelia Wattenberger wrote this great piece about how we look at data in various levels of details and about giving context to information.

🤩 WP Gallery

A nice collection of websites built using the WordPress Block Editor. One example that stood out to me is Amnesty International. Not only does it use the Block Editor but they also share a lot of their custom code openly on GitHub. Definitely will dive into the “Humanity” theme and their custom plugins some more.
