Reading List #90

Hello ๐Ÿ‘‹

Another week, another (short) list of things I’ve read.

Let’s dive straight in.

Design / Development

๐ŸŽ  A pretty wild media query

Adam Argyle needed a solution to position two scroll buttons inside a carousel when space is tight, or outside if there’s enough room. He achieved this with a pretty wild container query, using calc() inside the media query. Smart stuff.

๐Ÿ–Œ๏ธ Learn to draw in ProCreate

This post by Andy Bell โ€“ and the responses to it โ€“ came at the perfect time, as my 6 year old is starting to get into drawing on my iPad with ProCreate. We’ll definitely check out some of these and see what we can learn together.

๐ŸŒ„ Public Domain Image Archive

There’s a lot of material in the public domain, and this archive collects all those images in a nice gallery. Search and filter in the catalog view to find something specific or check out the Infinite View to just look around and let yourself be inspired.

๐Ÿฆ How the creator of Flappy Bird started to hate his creation and then took down

I didn’t know the story of Flappy Bird and that it came from Dong Nguyen, a Vietnamese developer. He built it basically as a side project on the weekend, got hugely successful but ultimately ended up hating and finally taking it down from the App Stores. Rolling Stone did an interesting interview with him.

Have a great week everyone! ๐Ÿ™Œ
