Reading List #66

Happy New Year, everyone!

We had some friends over yesterday to celebrate New Year’s Eve and had a very nice evening. I hope you all had a great start into the new year as well.

I finally managed to release my new little design on here, which I’m pretty happy about and look forward to develop it further this year. Also, I very much look forward to this new year in general, as we have lots of exciting things planned, both personal as well as on the business side of things.

Here a few things I’ve read in the past week or so.

๐Ÿคฉ ESIF

Zach Leatherman asked on social media, about articles that people found “Educational, Sensational, Inspirational or Foundational” and collected what people sent in on this website with the same title. Worth a look.

๐Ÿง‘โ€๐Ÿ’ป Bruno

I’ve read about bruno for the first time last week and it sounds like a valid alternative to apps like Postman, if you’re working with API’s.

โš™๏ธ On setting up a healthy GitHub repository

Joost de Valk shared some things he deems important for any GitHub repository. While some of it was obvious to me (add proper readme files etc), some others I heard for the first time. Did you know you can add a .github Repository to your organization to set some defaults across all your created repositories? I didn’t.

๐Ÿ› ๏ธ Run WP CLI Scripts in Bulk Across Various Servers

Remkus wrote about how he uses “profiles” in iTerm to run WP CLI scripts across various servers. Something to check out if you manage & maintain multiple WordPress sites.

๐Ÿงฐ VajraWP โ€“ A Modern WP Starter Plugin

VajraWP provides a starter plugin for WordPress plugins, giving you things like a React-built Settings page. I’m usually not a big fan of building everything in React, this one looks interesting if you need a fast way to spin up a new plugin.

๐Ÿ‘ฉโ€๐ŸŽจ Prompt-Brush v1

I times of AI-news rolling in daily, it’s great to see such silly, human little experiments like Prompt-Brush by Pablo Decan. Enter a prompt and your email address and Pablo paints a picture. With a brush, by hand. I love silly things.
