My son trying to spot the woodpecker in the forest behind our house, through the roof window.

There’s a woodpecker living in the little forest behind the house we live in. We can hear him loudly all day long, but so far we never managed to actually see him. Here’s my son trying to spot him.

BTW: Did you know, that woodpeckers hit their heads into trees with a speed of about 25km/h, for around 20 times a second(!) or 12’000 times a day? Their head structure features quite a few tricks to avoid serious damage to the brain and they are thus a frequent subject to study (the prevention of) brain injuries. Interesting little creatures.
